LOOSE LIPS LU LU is a pretty 9-inch dark lavender bitone with a lighter lavender watermark and a wide, diamond-dusted chartreuse throat. It's gently ruffled and an unusual form (cascade) that starts blooming in the early midseason and blooms well into the late season. Scapes are 33" to 35" with 4-way branching, 20 to 25 buds, and it is lightly fragrant. Hardy, dormant plant habit from LINGERING LOVE X CURT'S GIFT. Pollen fertile. Tetraploid.
LOUD GIRLS is an "improved WEBSTER'S PINK WONDER" having the same vigorous plant habit, but a much improved flower. Huge 9 1/2 "hot" rose-pink blooms have a lighter rose pink Munson type watermark and a fine white edge. Sepals quill and petals spatulate and crispate so LOUD GIRLS was registered as an unusual form. 32" scapes have 3-way branching and carry 17 buds. Unlike WEBSTER'S PINK WONDER which is pod infertile, LOUD GIRLS is easily fertile both ways. Blooms midseason and is a semi-evergreen. Tetraploid. Carries its beautiful, clear color and size and shape to its progeny.
Easily the most photographed daylily in my garden as the shape and presentation of this daylily is a delight to see. MACON MONEY is a pink bitone unusual form with lighter pink sepals displaying a pencil patterned halo. Sepals twist and curl creating gracefully detailed flowers. This is no "plain Jane" daylily and holds great potential for hybridizers with its bitone look and interesting sepal pattern in a pleasing color of clean, clear pink. Tall, straight 40" scapes with 3-way branching display the huge 9 1/2 to 10" blooms to perfection. Scapes average 16 buds and dole out uncrowded blooms over a long period starting midseason and blooming well into the late season. From a cross of GIRLS CLUB X ROSES FOR DALLAS it is proving to be pod difficult, but it has been a most used pollen producing intricate bitone seedlings with both cascade and crispate forms and patterning in pinks....a color neglected by those hybridizing for patterns and late season color. Clarity of color and hybridizing potential is outstanding.
MAKE IT SNAPPY is a 9" dark purple with a raspberry feathered watermark and a wide ivory to green throat. Shows blue tones on cool mornings. Boldly triangular sunfast blooms have an open form that is gently recurved and always open perfectly facing upward. Scapes are 42" with 5-way branching, 26 buds and it is has immediate rebloom for a long bloom season starting early midseason. Lightly fragrant. Easily fertile both ways. Hardy, dormant plant habit. A tetraploid from HIGH WATER MARK X AMAZING ADAM.
MAMA DRAMA is a striking, sunfast 9" dark raspberry red bloom with a bright rose watermark and a wide cream yellow to green throat with partial cream midribs that punctuate the watermark forming a pattern. Blooms have a boldly triangular open form with gentle recurve and face upward. Tall, stately scapes are 43" with ideal 5- and 6-way branching, 27 buds. Strongly recurrent sending up new scapes with first bloom for a long bloom season starting early midseason and continuing thru late season. Hardy, dormant plant habit. Easily fertile both ways. Tetraploid. (REDHEADED HUSSY X REDDY FREDDY) X NO BOYS ALLOWED
MAMA'S LITTLE PILLS comes from my small-flowered, tetraploid sculpted-cristate program and is a cross of PANIC IN PRESCHOOL X TET HEAVENLY ANGEL ICE. While it missed my goal of having sculpted cristate tissue, the genetics are "in there" and the plant so exceptional, I had to introduce this 7" diamond dusted peachy pink self with its strongly curled and twisting sepals with a splash of emerald on the backside! Blooms have a heavy, waxy, rain-proof substance. The scape height is 32" with ideal 4- and 5-way branching that averages 30 buds. I've recorded as many as 39 buds and it reblooms, too, so it produces a LOT of flowers in the early to midseason and beyond. It is easily fertile both ways with impeccable foliage and hardy, semi-evergreen plant habit offering lots of genetic potential for the hybridizer as well as a unique garden plant.
MARIAVILLE is a bud building 8” pink crispate with a light pink watermark and a diamond-dusted yellow throat. Scapes are tall at 39 to 40” with 4 to 6 branches and 38 to 52 buds (yes, 52!!!!). Begins blooming in the mid season. It’s fertile both ways but not easy to pod on hot days. Dormant foliage is flawless and survived living in Maine so it has to be hardy! Clumps up quickly for a spectacular display that goes on and on. Tetraploid.
MARIAVILLE (pronounced MARIAH-VILLE) is home to Maine hybridizer, Rob Laffin, who likes tall, well-branched daylilies with bold colors and hardy plant habits. Rob gave me this seedling several years ago saying he doesn’t like pastel colors but thought I might want to make a few crosses with my related lines because of its parentage: AL’S PEACH TOWER X ((JOE THE PLUMBER X (DANGLING PARTICIPLE X ARABELLA PEARL)). The Todd introduction ARABELLA PEARL is a cross of WHITE EYES PINK DRAGON X my own HIGH WATERMARK so I have lots of related seedlings growing in my garden in addition to my introduction of the Goldner daylily, AL’S PEACH TOWER. Thanks, Rob, for letting me add this beauty to my spring lineup!
MARVELOUS MERRY GREY (Davisson-J 20) I became interested in hybridizing for gray daylilies after attending a camellia show and seeing the unique camellias being hybridized in shades of clear light gray and smoky charcoal gray enhanced by pink edges and veining, yellow edges and veining, ...oh my! Seems nobody shared my enthusiasm including one negative person from New Joisey (you KNOW who you are!) who said NOBODY would buy a daylily the color of concrete. We shall see who likes gray! When I met a young lady who inspired me named Merry Grey, I knew it was time to introduce my gray daylily! MERRY GREY is a cheerful 8" clear, light gray with a huge yellow watermark that shines in the mid to late season. Scapes are 36" with wonderful 5-way branching and a bud count averaging 25. It doles out bloom after bloom for a long period of time and is a season extender when many other daylilies are bloomed out. Excellent at clump strength, when I have recorded even better branching and bud counts. It is also fragrant with faultless foliage and hardy semi-evergreen plant habit. MERRY GREY is a tetraploid from a cross of PATTY IN PINSTRIPES X CAROLINA COOL DOWN and is fertile both ways.
MAYOR OF HALLADAY is a late blooming 8" lavender with a chalky ivory watermark that turns cream peach under certain weather conditions. Registered as a large flower rather than an unusual form, it sometimes has pinched petals and twisting, quilled sepals giving it an unusual and interesting shape. Scapes are 40 inches with 5-way branching, 28 buds. It is a hardy, semi-evergreen with flawless foliage from a cross of a seedling (CURT'S GIFT X CONFESSIONS OF A HEMAHOLIC) X Steve Todd's remarkable VICTORIA JOSEPHINE. MAYOR OF HALLADAY represents a step forward in bringing a lighter lavender into the late season as well as easy fertility both ways. MAYOR OF HALLADAY is producing exciting, reblooming, fertile seedlings with watermarks.
MEAN GREEN (Davisson 08) is a 9" apricot unusual form with a wide chartreuse throat. Tall, sturdy 43" scapes have 4-way branching, 22 buds. Sev, fragrant, mid to late season, and easily fertile both ways. From a Dr. Fred Knocke seedling X OSTERIZED. Winner of the 2017 Carolina Best Clump award, an AHS Honorable Mention award, and an AHS Award of Merit. 2023 President’s Cup award for the best clump and the Ned Roberts Award for the best spider or UF seen at a national convention. 2024 Lenington All-American Award
My most pristine lavender to date, MERMAID'S SPELL is huge 9 1/2" clear pale lavender with a feathered light yellow "Munson" type watermark that is delineated by a darker lavender pencil band. First blooms are often 10" with a boldly open form with petals and sepals often on different planes, but registered as a large flower rather than an unusual form due to variation in form. Foliage is narrow and semi-evergreen with a dormant resting bud above ground in winter. Scapes are 42" with 5- and 6-way branching, 33 buds. A great season extender as it starts blooming midseason and goes well into late season. Fragrant!! Easily fertile both ways. Tetraploid from HIGH WATER MARK X AMAZING ADAM.
MIKE is a whopping 10" raspberry purple spatulate with a wide chartreuse throat and quilled sepals. Scapes average 40" with 4-way branching, 35 buds, but I've counted up to 49 buds with lots of watering. MIKE reblooms (on slightly shorter scapes) so it is the best plant in the garden for total number of blooms. It's a blooming machine starting in the early mid-season and blooming all summer long. Sturdy and reliable! Hardy, dormant plant habit, vigorous increase, and lightly fragrant. Pollen fertile. Tetraploid from a seedling (LOUD GIRLS x WHITE EYES PINK DRAGON) x UNKNOWN.
MISS DEMEANOR is a 9" apricot unusual form with a washed yellow watermark and fine yellow edges. Petals crispate and sepals curl back tightly. I almost composted this one the first year it bloomed because it's a different color similar to MEAN GREEN, but the scape won my heart (see next picture). Scapes are 49" with 5- and 6-way branching, 24 to 30 buds, plus another 9 buds on rebloom scapes. Starts midseason and continues into late season. A semievergreen tet from a cross of ORANGE CLOWN X WHERE EAGLES SOAR. Difficult but not impossible as a pod parent, easy pollen. A garden standout!
MISS MAYHEM pushes the boundaries on how tall and how big a daylily can get! The graceful 9 1/5 to 10" red spatulate blooms have twisting sepals, a darker red band, and veining at the petal tips. Sturdy scapes are 50" tall with wide spaced 3- to 5-way branching, 23 to 27 buds. Given lots of water and full sun, I have had as many as 46 buds. Blooming mid to late season, it takes the best from both parents LOUD GIRLS X HEAVENLY UNITED WE STAND. Hardy, dormant foliage and a bud builder. It's an easy pod setter during its bud building stage...excellent pollen all season....and it's fragrant, too! Getting past the pod reluctance of HEAVENLY UNITED WE STAND, the kids from MISS MAYHEM are all pod fertile. This is a sibling to last year's purple introduction of CONFESSIONS OF A HEMAHOLIC which is also pod fertile. Give MISS MAYHEM lots of space to grow!!! Tetraploid.
MISS POUTY PANTS is a vibrant 7 1/2" bright rose bitone with a light pink watermark and an ivory and chartreuse throat. Petals take on interesting crispate shapes that are raised above the sepals. Easily fertile both ways. It begins blooming in the mid-late season and reblooms well into the late season. Tetraploid.

This 9 1/2" yellow crispate unusual form has tall, 45" scapes with the same 5-way "self cleaning" branching as SUNNY INTERVALS where deadheads hang straight down and fall to the ground. The original scapes have 20 buds and the plant is strongly recurrent, showing larger 10" blooms on the immediate rebloom scapes for an additional 11 blooms. Very fragrant! Segments twist and curl with increasing heat and humidity. Inheriting hardy plant habit from both Goldner and Gossard parents, it's a SEV that starts blooming early midseason and continues thru late season. Difficult, but not impossible as a pod parent, easy pollen. Tetraploid from SUNNY INTERVALS X WHERE EAGLES SOAR.
MISTER MAYOR is a loosely crispate 8" deep purple unusual form with a light raspberry watermark and a wide ivory to chartreuse throat. Easily fertile both ways and lightly fragrant. Hardy, dormant plant habit. Vigorous plants increase quickly. Tetraploid from a seedling x REGINA SITKO.
Aptly named because this clump wowed me every morning for weeks starting midseason with its perfectly presented 8" ivory blooms. The "fat" spatulate, cascade blooms take many interesting twists and turns, and are waxy and rainproof. Fragrant, too! Everything that a show or garden bloom should be. Scapes are 36" to 40" with 4-way branching, 17 buds, and it reblooms. Pollen fertile from a cross of BOY CRAZY X GIRLS CLUB, it's a hardy semi-evergreen that increases quickly. Tetraploid.

This unruly gal is full of surprises in the mid to late season and is one of the last to bloom in my garden because it's a bud builder that doesn't want the party to end. Blooms are huge at 9 inches and sometimes reach 9 1/2. PARTY EVERY DAY is a orchid bi-tone patterned "fatty" (by UF standards)....with a faint lavender watermark, a dark lavender pencil band, a wide diamond dusted chartreuse throat, pie crust ruffles, and sepals that do something different every day. Sometimes they quill, sometimes they twist, and sometimes they cascade. Festive, full of fun, and deliciously VERY fragrant !!! Starts out with a 32" scapes with modest 3-way branching and 19 buds, but each scape had 30 bud scars by the time the party had ended in September.
